Why you should give healing a try!

Come and join the healing brotherhood!

The Healer oath:

To heal the wounded.

Cure the afflicted.

and raise the fallen.

Claile as a healer

 What is a healer?

Healers are the backbone of any adventuring party in any MMO. It’s very difficult to get through any dungeon or raid without a healer. Tanks maybe able to hold the enemy for a time, but without a healer to back them up they don’t last long. Tanks need healers to keep them up and tanking, healers need tanks to keep the enemies off them so they can keep tanks alive. DPS need tanks and healers to do these jobs so that they can focus on dealing as much damage as possible.

Why play a healer?

‘Healing is amazing because while the tank is the leader of the party, you have the fate of the party/raid in your hands you have to be mindful of who is taking damage from where and who is about to get hit with a mechanic. You also have to be mindful of when tanks decide to do big pulls and be able to heal at the right time or you lose your tank. It’s just a rush of keeping people alive and strategically using your heals and abilities to ensure you make it though the instance. Also good healers can make even the worst of tanks look good.’  (Raw Girth, Leviathan).

Healers are pretty fricking awesome. No party is complete without one. With the power of life and death in your hands, you are the cornerstone of any party. It’s a lot of pressure but you excel in high pressure situations. Healers have a broad range of skills that either heal damage or shield party members from further harm.

‘…its when the tank pulls way more than he can handle but you keep him and the dps alive and also manage to do a good amount of damage. Being 1 misclick or slightly late heal away from a wipe is so much fun.’

Whether curing small parties during dungeons, or keeping everyone alive during a big pull it’s a real rush when everything goes right and you keep everyone alive.

‘…as a healer, you are number one. Not in a ego way, but if there are team failed mechanics, that Bene or tetra is for me so I am still alive to heal and rez. If you are a DPS, you are at the mercy of the healers and you are at bottom of the pile. As a healer, you are prioritised. If you die, people are pretty keen to get you back up, so you are always in on the action. Unlike a DPS who can sit there for half a fight because the healers are busy keeping tanks up or waiting for their swiftcast to come off cooldown.’  (Toto Mei, Louisoix)

Can healers only heal?

Hell no! Healers are just a capable as the highest DPS when it comes to dealing damage and are no way limited to just healing.

‘Being able to DPS while solo healing trials is one of the most satisfying feelings I’ve had in this game.’

You don’t always have to sit and heal in a group, a lot of the time you don’t even need to be healing so it’s nice that you can throw out some spells to help out. Damn healers are just damn machines with more that just one trick in their arsenal! The sign of a good healer is if they can manage to weave damage spells as well as healing spells all while managing their mana. When it comes to DPS checks it’s pretty awesome to be able to help get through those checks.

In conclusion healers have a wide range of skills that compliment any situation. It leaves you with a satisfied feeling when things go right. Oh and the queue times for dungeon runs is pretty much a huge selling point and bonus.

Let me know in the comments what makes you play a healer and if you agree with this post. Why should people play a healer? What puts you off from playing a healer?

  1. OK, this here post appears to be one where internet marketers have spotted a place to drop their respective web sites trying to entice the leading search engines, most notably Google, to rate their sites highly. Impossible to truly critizise this tactic when considering any web site sadly is nowhere to be found unless there are links from other web properties voting for it.

  2. I think that is among the such a lot significant information for me.
And i’m happy studying your article. However should statement on some common issues, The site style is wonderful, the articles is actually nice : D.

  4. I am extremely impressed with your writing skills as well as with the layout on your blog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it is rare to see a great blog like this one these days..

  5. I must say, as much as I enjoyed reading what you had to say, I couldnt help but lose interest after a while. Its as if you had a fantastic grasp on the subject matter, but you forgot to include your readers. Perhaps you should think about this from much more than 1 angle. Or maybe you shouldnt generalise so considerably. Its better if you think about what others may have to say instead of just going for a gut reaction to the topic. Think about adjusting your very own thought process and giving others who may read this the benefit of the doubt.
